History

Veterans Park in Redondo Beach California was dedicated by the city council in 1930. The park is located on 6.3 acres of land at the corner of Torrance Boulevard & Catalina Avenue and just south of the Redondo Beach Pier & directly behind the Elks Club.

This memorial was erected by the members of our Post in 1932 - long before WW2.

Following the approval of a conceptual design by the City Council in 2004 to develop a park memorial honoring the service of our country's veterans, a Task Force was organized raise funds and shepard the project to fruition. The projected cost to complete the memorial is estimated at $200.000.00 with an additional $50,000 to be raise for a maintenance fund to insure upkeep at no cost to the city.

There are 20 benches in the memorial including two from Post 184. The 'meat & potatoes' of our fundraising is the purchase of a Memorial Bricks for individual veterans. Currently we have placed over 400 bricks. These Memorial Bricks make a wonderful gift to a Veteran or their family and is a very economical way to be part of this important project. Order forms are available at the POST, in the Canteen and on the RB Veterans Memorial web site. Please consider giving one for the Holiday or a birthday. [ www.rbveteransmemorial.com ]
